Patrice G. asks a question many of you may be unclear about. "How do I quit a forum"
Membership" is probably a misnomer for the forums that are open to all members. You can stop mail from them, but so far as I know, you can't quit them.
The forums that limit access to a subgroup of the membership ("Optional Forums,") you can quit if you are a member. And the forums you must apply to join, you can opt out of as well. This is done on the "My Forum Memberships" page of your personal profile. The all-member forums are at the top, and the optional ones are down the page.
Know that being a member, and getting emails, are separate choices. These distinctions can be confusing. Here are my symplistic descriptions.
Forum membership opt-in means:
I want to become a participant in this forum.
Email opt-in means:
I already have access to this forum; I want its posts delivered to my inbox.
Another important distinction is visibility. Public vs. Private. A forum that is not Public requires you to log in to even see it. Once logged in, you can only add or reply to a post if you are a member. And you usually won't even see the forums that are "Members only."
