It has vexed me that it takes so much time to coordinate volunteers for events or to find a time when people can meet. Here are two free online solutions that don't shower your screen with ads.
VolunteerSignup.org
It is specifically designed for volunteer sign-up sheets, is completely free, has no ads or fees, and does not require volunteers to register for an account. Their stated model is essentially “by volunteers, for volunteers,” for nonprofit and community activities. Signup Genius is more evolved but the ads make some afraid of clicking the wrong button.

Rallly Free Group Scheduling Tool (Yes, three Ls)
It creates the familiar poll—“Which of these dates/times work for you?”—without requiring participants to create accounts. The free tier covers the core polling functions; the project is user-funded rather than advertising-funded. A paid Pro account is currently $56/year, but I suspect you would have no need for it.
