✨ Pricing; Costs; Finances

** WELCOME ** Pricing, Costs, and Finances
Barry Peters

Richmond,

Thanks for tackling the work of improving the Forums and helping users understand it.

I urge that you (or the Board) approve an additional Forum topic: "Pricing; Costs; Finances". -- either as a members-only or open-to-all topic.

I'm confident that this topic would quickly become one of the most frequently used topics -- especially at this time of year when CCRC managements are announcing the budgets for 2025 and the percentage increases in monthly fees for Independent Living and continuing care, and the special fee amounts for ancillary services.

This topic doesn't duplicate any other. A second suggestion is that the members-only topic "Financial Soundness Handbook..." would be more useful if it were not focused on "Handbook feedback" and were simply renamed "Financial Soundness".

Thank you,

Barry,

I have established the forum. If you or others request it, I can make the forum visible to members only or create a new one for more private discussions. Here is the link: https://www.naccra.com/content.aspx?page_id=2154&club_id=526131&item_id=33272. Keep in mind that nothing that's on the web is truly secret, and confidential information should be kept to private communications.

Please kick off the discussion. If you would like to write an opinion piece to be posted on the Blog, please do so and email it to me for posting. The Blog post can link to the new Forum.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Does your State Association do an annual statewide Service Fee Survey for IL Units asking, e.g.: monthly fee (previous & current range), average %age increase year to year, inventory number of IL units, current occupancy? Or something similar? Have two sets of data: for profit and not-for-profit. It's valuable to do a 5 to 8 year comparison. Setting up the responses on a spreadsheet gives a good picture of trends.
