✨ The Power of Solidarity: Building Connections That Nurture and Empower

Such a clear and compelling description!

Richmond's January 13 post shows a new facet of NaCCRA's activities, one that deals with positive feelings and sharing, just as some of NaCCRA's past work has focused on finances and governance.

We as seniors need not be isolated on our own campus. The tools and the support for engaging beyond our campus boundaries are at hand ... we just need to reach out and try them.

I especially liked the point that celebrating joys can be as valuable as sharing challenges. Zoom and similar tools have made long-distance sharing and 'meetings' readily available to all of us. Networks of connected local groups make these positive feelings and experiences even stronger.

What a wonderful article which gives us the steps to take to build a strong, supportive network around ourselves! It helps to have the information all in one place. I look forward to hearing from others around the USA about how this is playing out where they live. I'm sure we will get helpful ideas.

In the Midwest where I live, residents have a networking group that has gone on for several years. We recently shifted our focus on preparing ourselves and supporting each other as we move into a period rapidly changing times. Our group is open to everyone, and different opinions and ideas are welcome. That way we get a better variety of opinions.

"At its heart, solidarity begins with a simple acknowledgment: we are all in this together. Whether it’s the challenges of ensuring transparency from management, negotiating changes in facilities, or addressing concerns about aging in place, many senior residents share common goals. Solidarity invites us to listen, learn, and act—not just for our own benefit but for the good of all. By linking arms across communities and states, residents can amplify their voices, exchange solutions, and drive positive change." quoted from my Blog post. Read more (must log in)

Please share your thoughts about how fellow residents support one another, and how NaCCRA could expand the networking and support it offers.
