Hi and Welcome!
I am a resident of a free-standing, non-denominational 501c3 CCRC / type A. I am interested in your experiences with and thoughts about systematic fundraising in these LPC organizations. Under this NACCRA forum there is a thread for employee appreciation and another for benevolent funds. Karen M has kindly shared that her community also has funds for employee scholarships and employee emergencies. In this thread I hope to bring our community discussion and sharing to other less specifically focused, more generalized fundraising for our organizations.
As examples, from 501c3 board and lead volunteer experiences, questions that come to me include
- Is more general current / annual and endowed fundraising for the general organization budget systematically approached?
- Do your trustees give charitably regularly / annually?
- Are residents encouraged systematically / regularly to make annual gifts or establish bequests / charitable gift annuities / charitable trusts? What assistance does the organization provide?
- What about families of residents?
- Is there a practice of memorial gift-giving?
- What about programs to include constituencies outside these groups?
- Has your organization successfully (or unsuccessfully!) sought foundation or corporate or other major donor grants?
- Does your organization assign / retain employee time and expertise to record-keeping and guidance in this process?
- Is there a foundation structure to efforts of this kind? Or are they conducted through the organization itself?
As you can see, any and all responses and elaborations will be helpful, instructive and possibly, inspiring :)
If you are interested in contributing to our communities’ thinking, I would appreciate your self-identification particularly as to the type of organization and of course I, and I hope many of us, will share our experiences, comments and suggestions.
Looking to be more powerful together,
Agnes C
