Cyber Attacks
Author Last Post

We have IT professionals who oversee a professionally designed network which has numerous built-in safeguards. To my knowledge, it has not been compromised. One of the basic safeguards is that the business network is isolated from the network that serves residents and visitors.

We had an intrusion at our corporate level (for which there are 3 affiliates - 1 each in DC, Virginia, and Maryland). Residents received the required notice. The CIO's office has an ongoing contract with a computer security firm to provide security advice and help respond to incidents. To the best of my knowledge, they never conclusively determined what, if any, data was accessed. There has been little indication of harm caused.

Have any CCRCs been the victim of a cyber attach? How did you respond? Or better, what is your organization doing to protect itself, and the residents' personal information?
